Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg may have an 'app plan' to take on ChatGPT and Google Gemini

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, is reportedly working on a standalone app for its AI assistant, Meta AI. This move is seen as a strategic effort to compete with other AI-powered chatbots like OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini.
According to a report by CNBC, the standalone Meta AI app could launch as early as the next fiscal quarter, between April and June 2025. The app is expected to offer advanced conversational capabilities, leveraging Meta's significant investments in AI infrastructure. CEO Mark Zuckerberg has previously emphasised the company's commitment to AI, with plans to spend up to $65 billion this year to expand its AI capabilities.
Meta AI, which was integrated into the company's existing platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp in April 2024, has already gained traction among users. By creating a dedicated app, Meta aims to provide a more focused and enhanced user experience, potentially attracting a broader audience.
