CM reviews implementation of SC/ST schemes in Bhagalpur
Bhagalpur: CM Nitish Kumar, who visited Mukheriya village in Bhagalpur on Tuesday to review welfare schemes for SC/ST communities, said development and welfare schemes were being implemented for all sections of society, especially women and marginalised communities.Reviewing progress under the Dr Ambedkar Samagra Seva Abhiyan (DASSA), Nitish visited an SC/ST hamlet in Jagdishpur block and inspected stalls offering services such as Aadhaar registration, school enrolment, rural housing, land rights and social security. He handed over cheques, skill certificates, inter-caste marriage incentives and housing keys under the PM Awas Yojana(Gramin) to beneficiaries.Launched on April 14 to mark Ambedkar Jayanti, DASSA is aimed at delivering 22 essential schemes directly to over 60,000 SC/ST tolas across the state through special camps. These include schemes related to education, healthcare, sanitation, electricity, livelihood, financial inclusion and food security.Earlier, the CM inaugurated and laid the foundation for 48 development schemes worth Rs 208 crore.Of these, 32 projects worth Rs 45 crore were inaugurated remotely while foundation stones were laid for 16 projects totalling Rs 163 crore.Nitish arrived in Bhagalpur by helicopter from Patna, accompanied by deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, water resources and parliamentary affairs minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary and senior officials. A review meeting was held with local authorities on the implementation of ongoing development initiatives.Later, the CM visited the historic Sandy's Compound ground to interact with participants of the Khelo India Youth Games 2025 and watched a badminton match, waving to the crowd.During the CM's visit, JD(U) MP Ajay Kumar Mandal slipped in the crowd and was treated by medical personnel at the venue.Others present included MPs Girdhari Yadav and former MPs Shailesh Kumar and Kehkashan Parween, along with senior state and district officials.
