CHENNAI: Chief minister M K Stalin on Monday insisted that traders keep Tamil names for their shops.
At the traders' conference on the 42nd Traders Day in Madhuranthakam in Chengalpet district, Stalin said, "Your shops are your babies. If you have given English names for your shop, I insist you change it to Tamil."

Referring to the resolutions passed at the conference, Stalin said, "You (traders) have been demanding for long for govt to announce May 5 as Traders Day. A govt order will be issued soon to officially announce May 5 as Traders Day."
"The GO to run shops and commercial establishments for 24 hours, which is going to expire on June 4, will be extended by another three years," the chief minister said.
"Traders should help complete the initiative of naming their shops in Tamil, " Stalin added.
