Chennai school teacher arrested on charges of cheating job aspirants

CHENNAI: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Chennai city police arrested a govt-aided school teacher on charges of swindling Rs 51 lakh from some people under the pretext of getting jobs for them in schools run by the Church of South India (CSI). The woman gave fake appointment orders to five of her victims.
The arrested woman, identified as B Sivashankari, 45, was working as a physical education teacher at a govt-aided school in Perambur, police said. She claimed that there were teacher and office assistant vacancies in CSI schools. Sivashankari told her victims that she would secure those jobs for them if they paid Rs 7 lakh each for the post of teacher and Rs 2.5 lakh each for the post of office assistant.
Believing her words, Ezhuamalai and his relatives paid a total of Rs 25 lakh to her. She gave them five fake appointment orders. When they realised that she had cheated them, they lodged a complaint with police. The job racket wing of the CCB registered a case and arrested Sivashankari.
Inquiries revealed that she had cheated six other people to the tune of Rs 26 lakh.
