Pakistani actor Hania Aamir has been left overwhelmed by the love she's still getting from Indian fans, even after her Instagram account was banned in India. Fans have been using VPNs (virtual private networks) to bypass the restriction and send her messages of support. Their dedication has touched the actor’s heart deeply.
Screenshots of these heartfelt fan interactions recently went viral on social media. One Indian fan commented, “Hello Hania, VPN ka subscription liya hai sirf aapke liye (I have subscribed to VPN just for you). Love from India.” Hania, clearly moved, replied simply with, “Love you.”
In another message, when a fan told her not to worry as “Indians are using VPN,” Hania responded emotionally with, “Ro doongi (I will cry).” Fans also called her fanbase ‘obsessed and devoted’ for going to such lengths just to stay in touch with her online.

Why were the accounts banned?
The ban came after a tragic terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on 22 April, where gunmen opened fire on civilians in the Bairsan Valley, killing 26 people – most of them tourists. Following the attack, tensions between India and Pakistan escalated rapidly. As part of its response, the Indian government ordered the geoblocking of several Pakistani celebrities’ Instagram accounts in India. Those affected include Hania Aamir, Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Atif Aslam, Ali Zafar, Sanam Saeed, Bilal Abbas, Iqra Aziz, Imran Abbas and Sajal Aly.

Anyone trying to visit these Instagram pages from India is now seeing a message that says: “Account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content.” Instagram also explains the reason behind the block: “We reviewed it against our policies and conducted a legal and human rights assessment. After the review, we restricted access to the content in the location where it goes against local law.”

The Instagram bans weren’t the only step taken by India. In addition to blocking access to popular Pakistani celebrities, the government has also banned 16 YouTube channels from Pakistan.
