For years, John Cena was WWE’s biggest babyface, always seen as the hero. Even when fans teased him, he never turned against them. However, at Elimination Chamber 2025, everything changed when Cena shocked the WWE Universe by switching to a heel persona, marking a dramatic shift in his legendary career.
Now, at WrestleMania 41, John Cena will face Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. This might be his last chance to win a world title at WrestleMania. WWE legends have been discussing what this heel turn means for Cena, Cody, and the future of WWE.

Bully Ray About John Cena Turning into Heel

On "Busted Open Radio," WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray explained that Cena’s heel turn is not just about himself, it is meant to help Cody Rhodes.
"The best thing about [Cena's heel turn] is it's all for the right reasons," Bully said. "The reason is Cody Rhodes."
He compared Cena’s turn to a famous WWE moment when Andre the Giant turned heel to help Hulk Hogan become a bigger star.
"When Vince calls Andre [the Giant], and wants to turn Andre heel, this, you know, this mega babyface, beloved, and everything they did...To see now what they're doing with Cena, and Cena turning heel all for the betterment of Cody and to take Cody to the next level; what Andre did for Hulk [Hogan]."
Bully believes that Cena is playing the villain just to make Cody an even bigger hero, just like Andre did for Hogan in the 1980s. If that’s true, WrestleMania 41 could be the most important match in Cody’s career.
At the same time, the legend Tommy Dreamer shared his thoughts on the situation in "Busted Open After Dark." Unlike Bully, he believes Cena should focus on himself and make the most out of this new character.
"The Champ" never would have done as a babyface who prided himself on never giving up.
Dreamer suggested that Cena should break the rules, act like a real villain, and do things he never would have done before.

Could John Cena Win and Break Ric Flair’s Record?

As WrestleMania 41 gets closer, many fans wonder if John Cena will win the championship and break Ric Flair’s 16-time world title record. Bully Ray and his co-hosts talked about the possible results of the match.
"If Cena were to win? One of the matches I would love to see in the future would be Rock and Cena versus Roman and Cody," Bully said. "That's a SummerSlam match. And there could be implications on that match."
Bully also gave his opinion on Cody possibly losing the match. He said that as long as WWE continues the story, it wouldn’t be a bad thing.
"Ultimately, I don't mind if the story continues into SummerSlam."

WrestleMania 41 is coming up, and everyone is talking about John Cena versus Cody Rhodes. It's a huge deal for WWE. Cena has gone bad, which nobody saw coming, and now all fans are wondering if he will win and beat Ric Flair's record. Or will Cody show he is the new top star? If Cena wins, how we see him will change forever. If Cody wins, it proves he is the best. Either way, this match is going to change WWE and be remembered for a long time.
