Carmelo Anthony spills on a wild night of partying with Kevin Hart and Will Packer that nearly derailed a major film shoot

Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Hart have a long-standing history of making people laugh, whether it’s through their playful jabs at each other or their unexpected fashion choices. But what happens when the cameras aren’t rolling? A recent revelation from filmmaker Will Packer gave fans a glimpse into one of the duo’s craziest nights out. And now, Melo himself has added even more details to the story.
During an episode of his podcast 7PM in Brooklyn, Anthony was asked about a wild night he shared with Hart and Packer. The story originally came to light when Packer spoke about it during his interview on The Rich Eisen Show while promoting his book, Who Better Than You?: The Art of Healthy Arrogance & Dreaming Big. But before we get to Packer’s version, here’s how it all started.

The night kicked off right after Kevin Hart wrapped up a sold-out comedy show at Madison Square Garden. Looking to celebrate, he linked up with Anthony and Packer for what was supposed to be a casual after-party. However, things escalated quickly.
What was meant to be a simple night out took an unexpected turn when the drinks kept flowing. As servers brought out bottle after bottle, Anthony playfully declared, “We’re gonna die tonight, fellas.” It was clear this wouldn’t be an early night.
For Packer, the real problem wasn’t the partying itself—it was the fact that both he and Hart had an early morning flight to catch for a major film shoot. As the drinks piled up, he realized their work schedule was in serious jeopardy. But convincing Hart to leave was no easy task. According to Melo, “I seen Will Pack like, ‘Yo, you gon’ die.’ I said, ‘Kev ain’t going to shoot. F**k that s**t. Kev, you ain’t shooting that s**t tomorrow.’”

The producer tried his best to remind them about the movie they were working on, but Hart, already deep into the night, wasn’t making any moves toward the exit. Eventually, Packer had to get desperate.
“We only had 40 minutes to get to Teterboro Airport,” Packer later revealed. “When Kevin goes, ‘Well, I tried,’ I realized it was like The Usual Suspects when you realize Keyser Söze. If just the star leaves set and doesn’t come back, the movie’s in jeopardy. If the producer is with him, I’m complicit. It all falls on me.”


As the night stretched on, Packer begged Anthony to let them go. Eventually, the Knicks legend relented, but not before making it clear it wasn’t happening again. “Carmelo goes, ‘Alright, get out of here. I’m gonna let you go this one time,’” Packer recounted.
With time running out, Packer took no chances. “I knocked drinks out of everybody’s hand, grabbed [Hart] by his collar,” he said. With police escorting them to a private jet, they managed to escape just in time.
It was a close call, but they made it. And knowing Kevin Hart’s history, this probably wasn’t the first or last time a producer had to drag him away from a party.

Despite the chaos, the night ended on a high note, with plenty of laughs and a story they’d be telling for years to come. While Packer and Hart barely made their flight, the experience only added to Hart’s long list of legendary party tales. One thing’s for sure—when Kevin Hart and Carmelo Anthony hit the town, it’s never just an ordinary night.
