The love story of Nikola Jokic and Natalija Jokic dates back to their high school in Sombor, Serbia. However, when Nikola joined the Denver Nuggets in 2015, they moved to Denver, USA. Pictures shared on Instagram by Natalija chronicle the times that they had spent together since they were 17 years old. After the move to Denver, they got engaged in January 2020. Post this, they tied the knot on 24th October 2020, back home in Serbia. Sharing pictures from the special day on her Instagram, Natalija wrote, "favourite party of all time." The post featured images and videos of the newly married couple singing and dancing.
As a ritual, Nikola has been seen trying his wedding ring on his sneakers before every game. Additionally, he also keeps his wife around him as much as possible despite the hectic schedule. Shortly after their wedding, they announced the birth of their daughter in September 2021. In a picture carousel from her baby shower, Natalija wrote, "Thank you 2021, you were my favourite so far."

They named their daughter Ognjena, which translates to 'fiery' in Serbian. Post the birth of his daughter, Nikola went on to have a remarkable season. This was marked by him winning the NBA MVP award for two seasons in a row. During the matches, Natalija and Ognjena were photographed cheering Nikola the loudest. However, the star player has opened up about how fatherhood has had its challenges with his tight schedule. In an interview with Arena TV, he shared, "I play 100 games away, I'm not home for 100 days. When I come home, Ognjena is different. Literally in five days, she changes you know."
