Charlotte Hornets power forward Grant Williams has spoken in defense of Boston Celtics players Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, urging fans not to judge them just because the team couldn’t perform better. The Celtics fell to the No. 3 seed New York Knicks in Game 2 by a score of 91-90 and now trail 2-0 in the Eastern Conference semi-finals. However, the fans still don’t seem to be forgiving enough and reacted to Grant’s tweet with rage and humour.

Grant Williams tweets in support of Boston Celtics players

Grant Williams took to X on Friday to speak up in support of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. He wrote, "Not even with them anymore but this C’s discourse is wild. Everyone has a right to an opinion but (Tatum) and (Brown) are Superstars. They are able (to) have bad games but we’ve all witnessed them both takeover. Don’t let recent events cloud your eyes from what they’ve done and accomplished.”Grant Williams was drafted 22nd overall in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics and reached the NBA Finals with the team in 2022. He has also played for the Dallas Mavericks and is currently with the Charlotte Hornets.
However, many took his tweet the wrong way, asking if he wanted to return to the Celtics. “Grant would you ever wanna come back to Boston?” asked an X user. Another tweeted, “Hey Grant we need a backup pf if ur free tmrw at 3:30.” One more wrote on X, “Grant we need you come back goat.” A comment also read: “Right exactly. True. Grant Williams you’re still a Celtic 100%.”Many Boston Celtics fans also didn’t seem ready to accept Grant’s argument. A fan argued, “Not only they were bad, they showed no fire or leadership. Even though you act like a midget tough guy, you have fire.” Another wrote on X, “Except... They are down 0-2.. with the same people that won a championship. Maybe they need to make some moves next season.” One more tweeted, “No they’re not, they are all stars but they are not superstars. No superstar would go down 0-2 at home against a mediocre Knicks team.” A comment also read: “Counter point: if they’re such stars why do they need to be babied and coddled so much when they get criticized.”Also Read: Jayson Tatum’s Superman campaign launches amid Boston Celtics’ struggle in the Playoffs The Boston Celtics still have many more games to prove their talent on the court.
