Kumkum Bhagya recently took a leap introducing new characters on the show. With Pranali Rathod and Akshay Bindra playing the lead, the show is set to bring yet another twist and new characters. Pandya Store's Shrashti Maheshwari joined the cast in an interesting role. The actress is set to play a role quite older than her in reality. She will be seen playing mother to a girl, same as her real age on the show.
While exclusively speaking to Times Of India TV, Shrashti got candid about the challenge of playing the character and also detailed about her look on the show. She said, "I am quite excited to play the character, while I didn't have any roles in TV, I remember telling the casting people that I don't mind playing any character but the role needs to be meaty and I should have good screenspace. And here I am with an interesting character. The challenging part is that the actress who plays my daughter onscreen is of the same age as me. Talking about my look, it is more of a blend of Gujarati and Bengali traits."
Shrashti underwent a major transformation of losing 25 kgs, she shared, "After pregnancy, I was continuously working. I had resumed acting 5 months after my daughter was born, and I did 4 web shows back to back. During that phase, I realised I had to lose weight and get back in shape. With a lot of perseverance, I have finally achieved the desired look and shed around 25 kgs."
Earlier, in conversation with BT, Shrashti mentioned, "I am returning to TV after January 2023. I last worked on Rang Jaun Tere Rang Mein. I hadn’t taken a break, koi kaam hi nahi de raha tha. Sab bahaane de rahe the. People would tell me, ‘You are settled and a mother, why do you need to work?’ I’m only 27. Why would I not work? But unfortunately, the casting directors on TV weren’t helping me out. I gave around 70-80 auditions, but none materialised. While I was waiting for TV work, I also did an internship and joined a start-up with a close friend. My husband encouraged me to keep busy until TV called me back. So, I joined a recycling company as a managing director and was juggling business as well. When TV wasn’t calling, I worked on OTT, did a Hindi film, four web shows, and several ads. So, I was working nonstop."
