Tillotama Shome cautions fans about fraudsters using her name and photo to scam people

Actress Tillotama Shome, known for her roles in 'Angrezi Medium', 'Lust Stories 2', and 'Delhi Crime', has issued a warning to her fans about an alarming scam. According to the actress, a person has been impersonating her by using her name and a photo from her film 'Shadowbox' to deceive fans.

On April 21, 2025, Tillotama shared a post on her Instagram, revealing that a fraudster had been using her image from the Bengali-language film, as their display picture on WhatsApp and scamming people by 'asking for favours'. The actress made it clear that the number being used did not belong to her and that she was not making any such requests.

In her post, she wrote, “This is not my number. The photo being used as the DP is of our film @bakshobondifilm. It was since removed. To whoever you may be, please don't use my name to ask the people I know for things. STOP.”

The fraudster’s attempts
To back up her claims, Shome posted screenshots of the phone number the scammer was using and even shared a conversation where the fraudster attempted to use her name to ask for ‘help’. The conversation showed how the scammer was trying to convince people that they were Tillotama.


Fans react to the scam
The actress’s alert quickly caught the attention of her followers, many of whom shared their own experiences with similar scams. One user commented, “Be careful... My friend got cheated like this.. she lost money,” while another warned, “Lots of fake accounts around.”
