Mark Zuckerberg pulled out all the stops for his wife Priscilla Chan's 40th birthday, surprising her with a commemorative performance recreating singer Benson Boone's Grammy look in 2025. The CEO of Meta mimicked Boone's award-show spectacle, including the blinding display of clothes change and high-intensity stage persona, leaving the audience and Chan in awe.
The event included Zuckerberg's surprise appearance on stage, first wearing a traditional black suit. In a surprising turn of events, two people ripped off the suit to expose a glittering blue, V-neck jumpsuit similar to the one Boone wore to the Grammys. Zuckerberg completely immersed himself in the performance, even copying Boone's trademark backflip and leaping onto a piano, shocking the audience as he replicated Boone's performance of ‘Beautiful Things.’
Zuckerberg posted a video of the performance on Instagram, writing, "Your wife's 40th birthday is just once! Thank you for the jumpsuit and new single, @bensonboone." It is not known if Zuckerberg was lip-syncing or singing, as the video was to Boone's new single, ‘Sorry I'm Here for Someone Else.’
For the unversed, Benson James Boone is an American singer-songwriter. Hailing from Monroe, Washington, his music career began when he stepped in for a friend at a talent show. In early 2021, he participated in ‘American Idol’ but chose to withdraw after a short time. Thereafter, with the boom of social media, he carved his way to the hearts of the audience. Soon he released his debut single ‘Ghost Town.’ Released in October 2021, it made it to the music charts at 16 different countries. Since then, there has been no looking back.
Meanwhile, as Zuckerberg channelled America’s beloved artist, social media responses to his effort were mixed. However, his wife Chan seemed to really get a kick out of the surprise, laughing and enjoying herself in the audience.
Zuckerberg himself looked pleased with the attempt, taking a photo of his glittery outfit on his Instagram Stories and captioning it, "Full send @bensonboone." Boone himself even chimed in on Zuckerberg's fashion choice, saying that the jumpsuit was "so tight."
