Prithviraj sets the stage for ‘L2E: Empuraan’—a’ bigger, bolder expansion of the ‘Lucifer’ universe

Filmmaker-actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has ignited excitement for L2E: Empuraan, the much-anticipated sequel to Lucifer (2019), by hinting at a grander, more intricate storyline that expands the film’s universe beyond what audiences previously imagined.

In a newly released 142-second character reveal video, he revisited his role as Zayed Masood and shed light on the deeper layers of the narrative unfolding in Empuraan.

In the video unveiled by the ‘Empuraan’ makers, Prithviraj addressed a key assumption audiences made after watching Lucifer—that the Khureshi-Ab’raam underworld syndicate was an unstoppable force. “After watching the film, we walked away believing that no force in the world was powerful enough to challenge them. But is that the case? Or is it a misplaced assumption?” he teased, setting up a major revelation. His words suggest that Empuraan will introduce a new entity—either a formidable individual or an equally powerful syndicate—capable of standing against the mighty Khureshi-Ab’raam network, which dominates the global gold and diamond trade.
The character reveal video also provided fresh insight into Zayed Masood, the deadly commando introduced in Lucifer. “In the first instalment of the franchise, we witnessed the Khureshi-Ab’raam nexus that infamously controls the global gold and diamond trade. Zayed Masood is the mercenary commando who led their hit group — or rather, their hit force. That was the only side of him that you saw in the film,” Prithviraj explained. However, Empuraan will delve deeper into Zayed’s past, his world, and the events that led him to align with the Khureshi-Ab’raam empire.
