Paddy Pimblett gains 43 pounds in one week after UFC 314 victory

Paddy Pimblett went from shredded to stuffed in record time. Just a week after beating Michael Chandler at UFC 314, he admitted he’s ballooned up to 198 lbs. That’s 43 pounds over his fight weight — and possibly enough to cost him a short-notice title shot if one comes calling.

Fresh off a career-best performance at UFC 314, Paddy Pimblett should be riding high both in the rankings and, surprisingly, on the bathroom scale— and he is, in more ways than one. After dismantling Michael Chandler in dominant fashion, the fan-favorite Liverpudlian shot up the lightweight rankings and quickly became a legitimate title contender. But while some fighters stay close to weight for potential short-notice opportunities, Pimblett has taken a very different route. Just a week after his win, he's made headlines again — this time for packing on an eye-popping 43 pounds.

Paddy Pimblett’s post-fight weight gain raises eyebrows

Paddy Pimblett has always been open about his love for food between fights, but even by his standards, this post-fight weight gain is extreme. Speaking candidly on Bruce Buffer’s IT’S TIME podcast, ‘The Baddy’ admitted to tipping the scales at a whopping 198 pounds — a staggering increase from the 155 pounds he weighed just seven days earlier for his lightweight bout.
“This morning, I woke up at 198 lbs, which is fat,” Pimblett confessed. “That’s about the heaviest I get.”

To put that into perspective, Pimblett's current weight would put him in the realm of light heavyweights — a full 43 pounds heavier than the lightweight limit. That’s a 19.5 kg swing in just one week. It's no surprise fans are both amused and concerned by the speed of his transformation.
Now ranked No. 8 in the UFC’s lightweight division, Pimblett has never been closer to a potential title shot. But such drastic weight fluctuations could rule him out of last-minute opportunities. Renato Moicano was given a lightweight title fight on just one day's notice at UFC 311 — something that would be physically impossible for Pimblett if he's carrying around 43 extra pounds.

While Pimblett’s post-fight binges are part of his personality and appeal, this latest jump in weight could come at a cost. With the lightweight division more competitive than ever, staying ready might be just as important as climbing the ranks especially when title shots can come out of nowhere without warning. For now, Pimblett remains one of the most entertaining fighters on the roster — both inside the Octagon and on the scales.
