Shadow Amaura is finally in Pokémon GO, and Trainers everywhere are racing to catch it. It’s icy, ancient, and now... a whole lot more mysterious with its Shadow form making headlines. But how do you actually catch it? And can you get a Shiny version too? Here's everything you need to know!Shadow Amaura is the corrupted version of the Kalos-region fossil Pokémon, introduced during the Crown Clash: Taken Over event on May 14, 2025. Like its standard form, it’s a Rock/Ice-type and evolves into Aurorus when fed 50 Candy at night.You can’t find Shadow Amaura in the wild. Instead, here’s what you need to do:You’ll find her hovering in Team GO Rocket Balloons (every 6 hours), or lurking at invaded PokéStopsShe uses a rotating lineup of Ice-type Pokémon. If you're lucky, Shadow Amaura will be in the first phase of the battle. Bring Fire-types like Mega Blaziken, Shadow Charizard, or Reshiram to breeze through her team.After beating her, you’ll get a reward encounter. There’s a 1 in 3 chance it’ll be Shadow Amaura — the other options are Shadow Snorunt and Shadow Sneasel.Repeat until you see the prehistoric cutie!Unfortunately, no. Shadow Amaura cannot be shiny at launch.Niantic usually holds back on releasing shiny versions of new Shadow Pokémon, and this time is no different. If you’re chasing that beautiful pastel blue Shiny Amaura, you’ll need to wait. Possibly for quite a while.Absolutely—especially if you evolve it into Shadow Aurorus. While not meta-breaking, Shadow Aurorus does decent work in Great and Ultra League PvP, thanks to its spammy moves and STAB-boosted coverage.
