Indian cricket team veteran and CSK stalwart
Ravindra Jadeja recently broke the record for the longest reign as the No. 1 ranked all-rounder in Test cricket. The 36-year-old has now spent over 1,152 days at the top of the ICC Test rankings and was congratulated by fans and teammates alike on social media. Amid the celebrations, another pressing question looms for India — and the answer might just be Jadeja.
With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli having retired from Test cricket, the captaincy is now up for grabs. While no decision has been made yet, Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja are considered among the frontrunners for the role.

In a recent YouTube video, Ravichandran Ashwin referred to Jadeja as a "black horse" and a strong candidate for the Test captaincy, alongside Gill. On his channel ‘Ash Ki Baat’, the CSK spinner also proposed that Gill could serve as vice-captain under Jadeja until he is fully prepared to take over the leadership role.
Ashwin argued that if the team is willing to groom a young player like Gill for two years, there’s no reason not to place faith in a seasoned veteran like Jadeja to lead the side during that period.
