New Chhattisgarh assembly complex set to become symbol of democracy & culture

RAIPUR: The upcoming Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly complex in Sector-19 of Nava Raipur is on the brink of completion, with over 95% of the work already done. Envisioned as a blend of democratic values, modern governance, and cultural heritage, the sprawling 51-acre complex is expected to be fully ready by September 2025.Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, in a recent review meeting held at the CM residence, emphasized that all remaining construction must be completed without delay.“This will be more than just a government building—it will stand as a landmark of Chhattisgarh’s democratic consciousness and cultural dignity,” said CM Sai. “Its architectural grandeur and functional design will inspire future generations.”The new assembly building has been designed with three core sections: the Legislative Secretariat, the Assembly Chamber, and the Central Hall Complex. Work is currently underway on several key components, including visitor and media galleries, conference rooms, a library, and installations for electricity, air-conditioning, and fixed furnishings. Landscaping, road paving, and water and power supply systems are also in their final stages.The review highlighted the importance of inter-departmental coordination, with updates presented by the Public Works Department, Horticulture Department, Culture Department, and CHiPS (Chhattisgarh Infotech Promotion Society). All departments have received strict instructions to meet the September deadline, ensuring that the complex is delivered as a model of administrative efficiency and architectural excellence.Designed with a focus on safety and sustainability, the new complex will feature a state-of-the-art fire-fighting system, rainwater harvesting, and modern audio-visual infrastructure. It will also house 300 kW solar panels and a 500-seat auditorium, reflecting the government’s commitment to green infrastructure and energy efficiency.Adding a rich cultural layer to the structure, the Department of Culture will build a museum dedicated to Chhattisgarh’s vibrant folk traditions within the premises. This space will serve as a celebration of the state’s diverse heritage, creating a unique convergence of governance and cultural identity.Once completed, the new Assembly complex will not only host legislative proceedings but also stand as a modern monument of civic pride—an embodiment of Chhattisgarh’s evolving identity, democratic vigor, and deep-rooted cultural legacy.
